ACCESS FROM MEEKER

10th Street Bridge

The starting point for Southern Wagon Wheel Trails, riders travel 11 miles of paved/maintained dirt roads before entering White River National Forest. Limited parking on site. Park trailers in town. No amenities on site.

County Road 8 – Flat Tops Scenic Byway

County Road 8 will bring you to the following trailheads:  12 miles of paved roads to Miller Creek Trailhead; 18 miles to Lake Avery Trailhead; 30 miles to North Fork Trailhead; and 44 miles to Ripple Creek Pass Trailhead. No parking on site. Riders should park trailers in town. No amenities on site.

TRAILHEADS

Hay Flats – 10 Miles south of Meeker

To Access the Hay Flats, take 10th Street south from Meeker and take Co Rd 13 to the Hay Flats Trailhead. Parking is available but no amenities. This is the starting point for an afternoon ride, a longer trip to Heart Lake, or Miller Creek Trailhead. Hay Flats is utilized for elk calving, some trails are closed from May 15 - June 20.

Yellow Jacket Pass – 11 miles north of Meeker

To access the Yellow Jacket Trailhead, take Hwy 13 north out of Meeker and turn east on Co Rd 15. The trail head is located at the junction of  Co Rd 15 and Co Rd 48, where parking is available but no amenities. This trailhead will allow you to enjoy a trip to Lake Avery, a longer trip through Lost Park #231, or ride the Deadhorse Loop #230.  The Lost Park area is utilized for elk calving, some trails are closed from May 15 - June 20.

Miller Creek – 12 Miles east of Meeker

Travel 12 miles on Co Rd 8 east out of Meeker and turn south on Co Rd 57 for one mile to the trailhead and parking area. Boasting a variety of OHV trails and loop opportunities, ride trails along Miller Creek, featuring dark timber, and opening to beautiful parks. Miller Creek is a  favorite place to camp and fish.

Lake Avery – 18 Miles east of Meeker

Lake Avery is located 18 miles from Meeker along Co Rd 8. Located within the Oak Ridge State Wildlife Area, riders experience high mountain ridges and travel down Fawn Creek Road #280 to visit North Fork Campground. This trailhead offers access to camping, restroom facilities, fishing access, picnic areas and plenty of parking.

Fawn Creek - 26.5 Miles east of Meeker

Travel 26.5 miles along Co Rd 8 to Co Rd 115 to Fawn Creek trail head and parking area.

North Fork – 31 Miles east from Meeker

Travel 31 miles on Co Rd 8 to FS Road 230. Find access to more difficult trails, and scenic views that won’t disappoint. Make your way up the Deadhorse Loop (#230) steep incline, stopping at the summit for photo opportunities! Limited parking. North Fork Campground offers restroom facilities, picnic areas and camping for a fee.

Ripple Creek Pass – 45 Miles east of Meeker

Travel 45 miles on Co Rd 8 to FS Road 1804 and the Ripple Creek Trailhead. With a starting elevation of 10,282, trail #1804 is open to vehicles 50" or less. The trail is open from June 21 - August 31. Ripple Creek Overlook offers restroom facilities, picnic areas and limited parking.
